IDAP FOOTBALL ACADEMY - IFA is very pleased to hear that American football club Real Salt Lake signed its Academy Football Ambassador, defender Nedum Onuoha. The player revealed the great news in a recent radio interview.
"I have always been someone that wanted to go and experience something a bit different," Onuoha told BBC Manchester.
As newly appointed Ambassador of IDAP FOOTBALL ACADEMY - IFA, Onuoha began his career at Man City. Most recently, he played for English Championship club Queens Park Rangers. He spent six-and-a-half seasons with QPR, making 210 appearances in Premier League and Championship action before he became a free agent at the end of the 2017-18 campaign. Prior to joining QPR in January 2012, Onuoha made 94 Premier League appearances in six seasons with Manchester City and played in 31 EPL games in one year at Sunderland.and, after a season on loan at Sunderland, joined QPR in January 2012.
"I spoke to a few Championship clubs quite close to here [his home in Manchester], one in the Premier League, but it didn't quite feel right and I didn't want to retire thinking 'I wish I had done this'."
Salt Lake are currently in fourth in the Western Conference, four points behind second-placed Kansas City.
Onuoha's deal is guaranteed until 2019 with the MLS side having the option to extend it for the 2020 season.
